Titre : Algorithms for Big Data : DFG Priority Program 1736 Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Hannah Bast, Auteur ; Claudius Korzen, Auteur ; Ulrich Meyer, Auteur Editeur : Cham [Switzerland] : Springer International Publishing Année de publication : 2022 Importance : 285 p. Présentation : ill. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-031-21534-6 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Open Access Publications Tags : Scalability Algorithm Engineering External Memory Genomics Research Information Retrieval Computer Networks Mathematics of Computing Index. décimale : 005.1 Programmation Résumé : This open access book surveys the progress in addressing selected challenges related to the growth of big data in combination with increasingly complicated hardware. It emerged from a research program established by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as priority program SPP 1736 on Algorithmics for Big Data where researchers from theoretical computer science worked together with application experts in order to tackle problems in domains such as networking, genomics research, and information retrieval. Such domains are unthinkable without substantial hardware and software support, and these systems acquire, process, exchange, and store data at an exponential rate. The chapters of this volume summarize the results of projects realized within the program and survey-related work En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-031-21534-6 Algorithms for Big Data : DFG Priority Program 1736 [document électronique] / Hannah Bast, Auteur ; Claudius Korzen, Auteur ; Ulrich Meyer, Auteur . - Cham (Switzerland) : Springer International Publishing, 2022 . - 285 p. : ill.

Présentation : ill. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-981-9772-55-1 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Open Access Publications Tags : Differential TMR-ACFM Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) Sweeping ACFM (SACFM) Electronics Microelectronics Geology Mechanical Engineering Index. décimale : 620.1 Mécanique de l'ingénieur (Mécanique appliquée) et matériaux Résumé : This open access book serves as a comprehensive exploration of Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM), encompassing the foundational theory crucial for subsequent chapters, as well as the design and testing of ACFM probes, instruments, and software. Providing guidance and serving as a reference for ACFM instrument development, the text delves into visualization research in ACFM, offering valuable insights for technical engineering applications. Nondestructive testing (NDT) emerges as a pivotal method for detecting and assessing defects, offering support for safety pre-warning and maintenance decisions in industrial structures. Originating from the 1980s, the demand for an NDT technique arose to inspect fatigue cracks at welded intersections in offshore underwater structures in the North Sea. Conventional NDT methods proved impractical in this distinct underwater environment with quantitative evaluation requirements, prompting the development of the ACFM technique by researchers in the mechanical engineering department at University College London. Over the past four decades, ACFM's theory model, inspection methods, and equipment have undergone rapid advancements, gaining widespread utilization in ocean engineering, the power industry, rail traffic, and special equipment fields. This book encompasses diverse facets, including the global development history of alternating current field measurement technology, core basic theory, signal processing methods, probe instrument development, standardization construction, and engineering applications. Serving as a valuable learning reference for students and offering fundamental theoretical guidance for scientific researchers, it also provides case introductions for engineering applications. The book aims to propel both theoretical research and practical applications of alternating current field measurement technology, contributing significantly to its popularization and widespread application En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1007/978-981-97-7255-1 Alternating Current Field Measurement Technique for Detection and Measurement of Cracks in Structures [document électronique] / Wei Li, Auteur ; Xin'an Yuan, Auteur ; Jianming Zhao, Auteur . - Cham (Switzerland) : Springer International Publishing, 2025 . - 148 p. : ill.

Titre : An Introduction to the Mechanics of Incompressible Fluids Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Michel O. Deville, Auteur Editeur : Cham [Switzerland] : Springer International Publishing Année de publication : 2022 Importance : 325 p. Présentation : ill. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-031-04683-4 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Open Access Publications Tags : Incompressible fluid mechanics Navier-Stokes Equations Plane Irrotational Flows Turbulence Instability Conservation Laws Index. décimale : 620.1 Mécanique de l'ingénieur (Mécanique appliquée) et matériaux Résumé : This open access book allows the reader to grasp the main bulk of fluid flow problems at a brisk pace. Starting with the basic concepts of conservation laws developed using continuum mechanics, the incompressibility of a fluid is explained and modeled, leading to the famous Navier-Stokes equation that governs the dynamics of fluids. Some exact solutions for transient and steady-state cases in Cartesian and axisymmetric coordinates are proposed. A particular set of examples is associated with creeping or Stokes flows, where viscosity is the dominant physical phenomenon. Irrotational flows are treated by introducing complex variables. The use of the conformal mapping and the Joukowski transformation allows the treatment of the flow around an airfoil. The boundary layer theory corrects the earlier approach with the Prandtl equations, their solution for the case of a flat plate, and the von Karman integral equation. The instability of fluid flows is studied for parallelflows using the Orr-Sommerfeld equation. The stability of a circular Couette flow is also described. The book ends with the modeling of turbulence by the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations and large-eddy simulations. Each chapter includes useful practice problems and their solutions. The book is useful for engineers, physicists, and scientists interested in the fascinating field of fluid mechanics.
