Titre : Earth dynamics : deformations and oscillations of the rotating earth Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : D.E. Smilie, Auteur Editeur : Cambridge [United Kingdom] : Cambridge University Press Année de publication : 2013 Importance : 543 p. Présentation : couv. ill. en coul. Format : 25 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-521-87503-5 Note générale : Bibliogr. Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Livres Tags : Géodynamique Rotation Terre Index. décimale : 551.1 Structure globale et propriété de la terre Résumé : The Earth is a dynamic system. Internal processes, together with external gravitational forces of the Sun, Moon and planets, displace the Earth's mass, impacting on its shape, rotation and gravitational field. Doug Smylie provides a rigorous overview of the dynamical behaviour of the solid Earth, explaining the theory and presenting methods for numerical implementation. Topics include advanced digital analysis, earthquake displacement fields, Free Core Nutations observed by the Very Long Baseline Interferometric technique, translational modes of the solid inner core observed by the superconducting gravimeters, and dynamics of the outer fluid core. This book is supported by freeware computer code, available online for students to implement the theory. Online materials also include a suite of graphics generated from the numerical analysis, combined with 100 graphic examples in the book to make this an ideal tool for researchers and graduate students in the fields of geodesy, seismology and solid earth geophysics. The book covers broadly applicable subjects such as the analysis of unequally spaced time series by Singular Value Decomposition, as well as specific topics on Earth Dynamics Earth dynamics : deformations and oscillations of the rotating earth [texte imprimé] / D.E. Editeur : Cambridge [United Kingdom] : Cambridge University Press Année de publication : 2014 Importance : 623 p.-[16] p. de pl.) Présentation : ill. Format : 26 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-521-18623-0 Note générale : Bibliogr. p. 607-611 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Livres Tags : Géodynamique Index. décimale : 551.1 Structure globale et propriété de la terre Résumé : Essential reading for any Earth scientist, this classic textbook has been providing advanced undergraduate and graduate students with the fundamentals needed to develop a quantitative understanding of the physical processes of the solid earth for over thirty years. This third edition has two completely new chapters covering numerical modelling and geophysical MATLAB applications, and the text is now supported by a suite of online MATLAB codes that will enable students to grasp the practical aspects of computational modelling. The book has been brought fully up to date with the inclusion of new material on planetary geophysics and other cutting edge topics. Exercises within the text allow students to put the theory into practice as they progress through each chapter and carefully selected further reading sections guide and encourage them to delve deeper into topics of interest. Answers to problems available within the book and also online, for self-testing, complete the textbook package.

- Malakoff : Dunod, 2020 . - 237 p. : ill. en noir et en coul., fig., cartes, couv. ill. en coul ; 24 cm. - (Sciences sup.
