Titre : Acceptance and Diffusion of Connected and Automated Driving in Japan and Germany Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Christine Eisenmann, Auteur ; Dennis Seibert, Auteur ; Torsten Fleischer, Auteur Editeur : Paris : Springer Année de publication : 2024 Importance : 239 p. Présentation : ill., couv. ill. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-031-59876-0 Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Automotive Engineering Transportation Technology Traffic Engineering Automated Driving Index. décimale : 621 Physique appliquée (Ingénierie et activités connexes) Résumé : This open access book gives comprehensive empirical insights on connected and automated driving (CAD) of road transport vehicles which leads to the driver being partially or completely replaced by automation. The current trend towards widespread research and development of automation of motorised individual transport is driven by the expected benefits, such as increased road safety, smoother traffic flow, reduction of congestion, or use of driving time for other activities. CAD has the potential to change several dimensions of the transport system, ranging from changes in car ownership to the availability of entirely new mobility services. Some proponents even expect CAD to revolutionise the current transport system as a whole. In order to make informed statements about the possible impact of CAD on transport systems, research must consider a wide range of open questions: In what way do the existing framework conditions of the prevailing mobility systems affect the impact of CAD? How does the governance style relate to regulatory changes and resource allocation in the development of CAD? Is an autonomous ride-hailing service really a profitable business case? What are the attitudes and expectations towards CAD in the general public? What are the effects of CAD on transport systems? What are other impacts of CAD that should be assessed? All of these questions were addressed within different projects as part of the Japanese-German Research Cooperation on CAD and can be discovered by the reader of this book. Titre : Advanced Concepts for Renewable Energy Supply of Data Centres Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Jaume Salom, Auteur ; Thorsten Urbaneck, Auteur Editeur : Gistrup [Denmark] : River Publishers Année de publication : 2017 Importance : 230 p. Présentation : ill., couv. ill. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-00-333699-0 Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Energy efficiency Civil engineering Renewable energy sources Building construction Index. décimale : 621.31 Production, transformation, accumulation, transport d'énergie électrique Résumé : The rapid increase of cloud computing, high performance computing (HPC) and the vast growth in Internet and Social Media use have aroused the interest in energy consumption and the carbon footprint of Data Centres. Data Centres primarily contain electronic equipment used for data processing (servers), data storage (storage equipment), and communications (network equipment). Collectively, this equipment processes, stores, and transmits digital information and is known as information technology (IT) equipment. Advanced Concepts for Renewable Energy Supply of Data Centres introduces a number of technical solutions for the supply of power and cooling energy into Data Centres with enhanced utilisation of renewable energy sources in order to achieve low energy Data Centres. Because of the high energy density nature of these unique infrastructures, it is essential to implement energy efficiency measures and reduce consumption before introducing any renewable energy source. A holistic approach is used with the objective of integrating many technical solutions such as management of the IT (Information Technology) load, efficient electrical supply to the IT systems, Low-Ex air-conditioning systems, interaction with district heating and cooling networks, re-use of heat, free cooling (air, seawater, groundwater), optimal use of heat and cold storage, electrical storage and integration in smart grids. This book is therefore a catalogue of advanced technical concepts that could be integrated into Data Centres portfolio in order to increase the overall efficiency and the share of renewable energies in power and cooling supply. Based on dynamic energy models implemented in TRNSYS some concepts are deeply evaluated through yearly simulations. The results of the simulation are illustrated with Sankey charts, where the energy flows per year within the subsystems of each concept for a selected scenario are shown, and graphs showing the results of parametric analysis. A set of environmental metrics (as the non-renewable primary energy) and financial metrics (CAPEX and OPEX) as well of energy efficiency metrics like the well-known PUE, are described and used to evaluate the different technical concepts. Titre : Advances in Hybrid Supercapacitors Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Xianzhong Sun, Auteur ; Changzhou Yuan ; Xiong Zhang Editeur : Basel [Switzerland] : MDPI Année de publication : 2025 Importance : 262p. Présentation : ill. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-7258-6257-3 Langues : Français (fre) Tags : supercapacitors hybrid energy storage systems electrode materials electrolyte transition metal oxides Index. décimale : 621.31 Production, transformation, accumulation, transport d'énergie électrique Résumé : Hybrid supercapacitors (HSCs) are an emerging class of energy storage devices that combine the high power density of supercapacitors with the high energy density of batteries, offering a unique set of advantages that make them ideal for a wide range of applications. By pairing a faradaic electrode—where charges are stored through reversible redox, intercalation, or conversion reactions—with a non-faradaic or pseudocapacitive electrode that relies on surface ion adsorption, HSCs can provide higher energy density while still maintaining a high level of power output in short bursts, making them well-suited for applications that require rapid charging and discharging, such as in electric vehicles during acceleration, regenerative braking, or start–stop events; cordless power tools that must drive screws or drill masonry without voltage sag; grid-tied buffers that smooth short-term fluctuations from renewables; and even wearable or IoT devices that harvest intermittent energy and must transmit data bursts. This preprint features eleven research and review papers that focus on the recent advances in the field of hybrid supercapacitors, covering topics such as carbon-based and transition metal oxides electrode materials, electrolytes and additives, Zn-ion hybrid capacitors, hybrid energy storage systems, and control algorithms for supercapacitors. Research from over 40 authors from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Romania, the Republic of Korea, Greece, and other countries and regions contributed to this preprint.
