Titre : Principles of polymer engineering Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Norman Gerard McCrum ; C.P. Buckley ; C.B. Bucknall Editeur : Oxford : Oxford university press Année de publication : 1997 Collection : Oxford science publications Importance : 447 p. Présentation : ill., couv. ill en coul. Format : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-19-856526-0 Note générale : Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Polymères Polymérisation Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères et polymérisation Résumé : Polymers have an important role in manufacturing and their engineering properties form an important part of any course in engineering. This revised and updated second edition develops the principles of polymer engineering from the underlying materials science, and is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students in engineering and materials science. The opening chapters explain why plastics and rubbers have such distinctive properties and how these are affected by temperature, strain rate, and other factors. The book then explores how these properties can be exploited within these property constraints to produce functional components. Major changes for this second edition include an introductory chapter on the environmental impact of polymers, emphasizing the important issues, and substantially revised sections on fracture testing for toughened polymers, yield, processing, heat transfer, and polymer forming. Titre : Polymer Thin Films : Polymer Thin Films Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Mohor Mihelcic, Auteur Année de publication : 2025 Importance : 126p. Présentation : ill ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-7258-6012-8 Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Polymer thin films Multifunctional coatings Antimicrobial coatings Waterborne coatings Microcapsules Polymer composites Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères et polymérisation Résumé : The use of polymer thin films is currently implemented in almost every aspect of modern life, due to their cost-efficiency, lightness, flexibility, and unique physical and chemical properties. The reason for focusing research into polymer thin films is to understand the mechanisms that affect interfacial interactions, flow behavior, film formation, and relationships between deposition process parameters and the film structure, as well as other advanced functional properties.
This Special Issue highlights and discusses studies on the development and characterization of functional polymer coatings and films for various applications. In summary, the studies focus on the contribution of nano- and microfillers embedded in polymer matrices for enhancement of thermal and mechanical stability. It also covers the preparation and use of coated microcapsules, which effectively enhance antibacterial properties, and highlights the role of natural additives in improving performance. One study examines coatings for reducing foodborne pathogens on blackberries. Furthermore, the examination of different polyols in polyester-based polyurethane coatings demonstrates their influence on functional properties, while the layer-by-layer self-assembly technique for antistatic polyester fibers presents innovative approaches to modifying surface characteristics. Lastly, the synthesis and evaluation of bio-sourced plasticizer thin films highlight improvements in eco-friendly materials, as well as the use of a silicone coupling reagent for the preservation of oracle bones.En ligne : https://doi.org/10.3390/books978-3-7258-6012-8 Polymer Thin Films : Polymer Thin Films [document électronique] / Mohor Mihelcic, Auteur . - 2025 . - 126p. : ill.
