The forces that result in an aircraft overcoming gravity and drag are called thrust and lift. Various parameters such as geometrical configurations of objects, as well as physical properties of air, which may be functions of position and time, affect those forces. This book covers some of the latest studies regarding the application of the principles of aerodynamics to the design of many different engineered objects. This book will be of interest to mechanical and aerospace engineering students, academics, and researchers who are looking for new insights into this fascinating branch of fluid mechanics. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-030-33570-0 Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Building Information Modeling BIM Interoperable management Built environment Blockchain Smart City Digital design Digital transformation Building management Building process remote sensing-photogrammetry Index. décimale : 600 Technologie (sciences appliquées) Résumé : This open access book focuses on the development of methods, interoperable and integrated ICT tools, and survey techniques for optimal management of the building process. The construction sector is facing an increasing demand for major innovations in terms of digital dematerialization and technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, advanced manufacturing, robotics, 3D printing, blockchain technologies and artificial intelligence. The demand for simplification and transparency in information management and for the rationalization and optimization of very fragmented and splintered processes is a key driver for digitization. The book describes the contribution of the ABC Department of the Polytechnic University of Milan (Politecnico di Milano) to R&D activities regarding methods and ICT tools for the interoperable management of the different phases of the building process, including design, construction, and management. Informative case studies complement the theoreticaldiscussion. The book will be of interest to all stakeholders in the building process – owners, designers, constructors, and faculty managers – as well as the research sector. Titre : Elements of Robotics Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Mordechai Ben-Ari, Auteur ; Francesco Mondada, Auteur Editeur : Berlin [Germany] : Springer Nature Limited Année de publication : 2018 Importance : 308 p. Présentation : ill. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-319-62533-1 Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Robotics Algorithms Sensors Actuators Navigation Localization Kinematics Control Odometry Mapping Index. décimale : 629.892 Robots Résumé : This open access book bridges the gap between playing with robots in school and studying robotics at the upper undergraduate and graduate levels to prepare for careers in industry and research. Robotic algorithms are presented formally, but using only mathematics known by high-school and first-year college students, such as calculus, matrices and probability. Concepts and algorithms are explained through detailed diagrams and calculations. Elements of Robotics presents an overview of different types of robots and the components used to build robots, but focuses on robotic algorithms: simple algorithms like odometry and feedback control, as well as algorithms for advanced topics like localization, mapping, image processing, machine learning and swarm robotics. These algorithms are demonstrated in simplified contexts that enable detailed computations to be performed and feasible activities to be posed. Students who study these simplified demonstrations will be well prepared for advanced study of robotics. The algorithms are presented at a relatively abstract level, not tied to any specific robot. Instead a generic robot is defined that uses elements common to most educational robots: differential drive with two motors, proximity sensors and some method of displaying output to the user. The theory is supplemented with over 100 activities, most of which can be successfully implemented using inexpensive educational robots. Activities that require more computation can be programmed on a computer. Archives are available with suggested implementations for the Thymio robot and standalone programs in Python. Uniquely, the book features case studies on the identification and isolation methods for vivianite crystals from paddy field soils, as well as a useful procedure for identifying noncrystalline constituents such as volcanic glasses and plant opals, which can also be applied to other soils depending on the local conditions. Given its focus and coverage, the book will be useful toall readers who are interested in agronomy, plant production science, agricultural chemistry and environmental science. In addition, it can help biogeochemists further expand their research work on the rhizosphere of wetland plant roots, iron and phosphate dynamics, etc. En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1007/978-981-13-1214-4 Inorganic Constituents in Soil : Basics and Visuals [document électronique] / Masami Nanzyo, Auteur ; Hitoshi Kanno, Auteur . - Berlin (Germany) : Springer Nature Limited, 2018 . - 181 p. : ill.

Two decades have passed since the start of the 21st century. The development of sciences and technologies is growing ever faster today than in the previous century. The field of science is expanding, and the structure of science is becoming ever richer. Because of this expansion and fine structure growth, researchers may lose themselves in the deep forest of the ever-increasing frontiers and sub-fields being created. This international conference on the Applied Sciences was started to help scientists conduct their own research into the growth of these frontiers by breaking down barriers and connecting the many sub-fields to cut through this vast forest. These functions will allow researchers to see these frontiers and their surrounding (or quite distant) fields and sub-fields, and give them the opportunity to incubate and develop their knowledge even further with the aid of this multi-dimensional network.
