Titre : Deformation and failure mechanism of excavation in clay subjected to hydraulic uplift Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Yi Hong, Auteur ; Lizhong Wang., Auteur Editeur : Heidelberg : Springer Année de publication : 2016 Collection : Advanced topics in science and technology in China Importance : 156 p. Format : 23 cm. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-662-56885-9 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Livres Index. décimale : 624.152 Excavation Résumé : This book presents the latest experimental and numerical analysis work in the field of ground deformation and base instability of deep excavations in soft clay subjected to hydraulic uplift. The authors’ latest research findings, based on dimensional analyses, well-instrumented full-scale field tests, systematic coupled-consolidation finite element analyses and centrifuge tests are reported. This book shows how to systematically approach a complex geotechnical problem, from identifying existing problems, reviewing literature, to dimensional and numerical analyses, validation through full-scale testing and centrifuge model testing. The methodologies are also introduced as major tools adopted in geotechnical research. Titre : Geomechanics of failures Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Alexander M. Puzrin, Auteur ; Eduardo E. Alonso, Auteur ; Nuria M. Pinyol, Auteur Editeur : Heidelberg : Springer Année de publication : 2010 Importance : 245 p. Présentation : ill., couv. ill. en coul. Format : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-90-481-3530-1 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Livres Index. décimale : 624.176 Contraintes et tensions (Déformation) Résumé : The main goal of this introductory text is to demonstrate how basic concepts in Soil Mechanics can be used as a "forensic" tool in the investigation of geotechnical failures. This, in turn, provides a good opportunity to show how to use available procedures in the formulation of useful simple models. Geotechnical failure is understood here in a broad sense as the failure of a structure to function properly due to a geotechnical reason. Some of the geotechnical failures selected are well known for their impact on the geotechnical community. Others are closer to the author's experience. They have been organized into three main topics: Settlement, Bearing Capacity and Excavations. They cover a significant proportion of every day's activity of professional geotechnical engineers. No attempt has been made to create a comprehensive handbook of failures. Instead, the emphasis has been given to creative applications of simple mechanical concepts and well known principles and solutions of Soil Mechanics. The book shows how much can be learned from relatively simple approaches. Despite this emphasis on simplicity, the book provides a deep insight into the cases analyzed. A non-negligible number of new analytical closed-form solutions have also been found. Their derivation can be followed in detail. In all the cases described an effort was made to provide a detailed and step by step description of the hypothesis introduced and of the analysis performed. Titre : Handbook of Contact Mechanic : Exact Solutions of Axisymmetric Contact Problems Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Valentin L. Popov, Auteur ; Markus Heß, Auteur ; Emanuel Willert, Auteur Editeur : Heidelberg : Springer Année de publication : 2019 Importance : 365 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-662-58709-6 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Open Access Publications Tags : Solid Mechanics Classical Mechanics Mathematical and Computational Engineering Index. décimale : 620.105 Mécanique appliquée des solides Résumé : This open access book contains a structured collection of the complete solutions of all essential axisymmetric contact problems. Based on a systematic distinction regarding the type of contact, the regime of friction and the contact geometry, a multitude of technically relevant contact problems from mechanical engineering, the automotive industry and medical engineering are discussed. In addition to contact problems between isotropic elastic and viscoelastic media, contact problems between transversal-isotropic elastic materials and functionally graded materials are addressed, too. The optimization of the latter is a focus of current research especially in the fields of actuator technology and biomechanics. The book takes into account adhesive effects which allow access to contact-mechanical questions about micro- and nano-electromechanical systems. Solutions of the contact problems include both the relationships between the macroscopic force, displacement and contact length, as well as the stress and displacement fields at the surface and, if appropriate, within the half-space medium. Solutions are always obtained with the simplest available method - usually with the method of dimensionality reduction (MDR) or approaches which use the solution of the non-adhesive normal contact problem to solve the respective contact problem.
