Titre : Charged Particle Optics Theory : An Introduction Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Timothy R. Groves, Auteur Editeur : Boca Raton [USA] : CRC press Année de publication : 2015 Importance : 369 p. Présentation : ill. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-315-21531-0 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Open Access Publications Tags : Relativistic Classical Mechanics Hamilton’s Principle Quantum Mechanics Wave-Particle Duality Geometrical Optics Wave Optics Electron Emission Fourier Transform SEM/STEM. practical applications Index. décimale : 539.73 Accélération des particules Résumé : Charged Particle Optics Theory: An Introduction identifies the most important concepts of charged particle optics theory, and derives each mathematically from the first principles of physics. Assuming an advanced undergraduate-level understanding of calculus, this book follows a logical progression, with each concept building upon the preceding one. Beginning with a non-mathematical survey of the optical nature of a charged particle beam, the text: -Discusses both geometrical and wave optics, as well as the correspondence between them.-Describes the two-body scattering problem, which is essential to the interaction of a fast charged particle with matter.-Introduces electron emission as a practical consequence of quantum mechanics.-Addresses the Fourier transform and the linear second-order differential equation.-Includes problems to amplify and fill in the theoretical details, with solutions presented separately. Charged Particle Optics Theory: An Introduction makes an ideal textbook as well as a convenient reference on the theoretical origins of the optics of charged particle beams. It is intended to prepare the reader to understand the large body of published research in this mature field, with the end result translated immediately to practical application En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1201/9781315215310 Charged Particle Optics Theory : An Introduction [document électronique] / Timothy R. Titre : Electroweak Physics at LEP and LHC Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Arno Straessner, Auteur Editeur : Berlin [Germany] : Springer Nature Limited Année de publication : 2010 Importance : 209 p. Présentation : ill. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-642-05169-2 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Open Access Publications Tags : Standard Model Electroweak Interaction LEP (Large Electron-Positron Collider) LHC (Large Hadron Collider) Higgs Physics Precision Measurements Gauge Bosons Particle Physics - Experiment Index. décimale : 539.73 Accélération des particules Résumé : During more than 10 years, from 1989 until 2000, the LEP accelerator and the four LEP experiments, ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL, have taken data for a large amount of measurements at the frontier of particle physics. The main outcome is a thorough and successful test of the Standard Model of electroweak interactions. Mass and width of the Z and W bosons were measured precisely, as well as the Z and photon couplings to fermions and the couplings among gauge bosons. The rst part of this work will describe the most important physics results of the LEP experiments. Emphasis is put on the properties of the W boson, which was my main research eld at LEP. Especially the precise determination of its mass and its couplings to the other gauge bosons will be described. Details on physics effects like Colour Reconnection and Bose-Einstein Correlations in W-pair events shall be discussed as well. A conclusive summary of the current electroweak measurements, including low-energy results, as the pillars of possible future ndings will be given. The important contributions from Tevatron, like the measurement of the top quark and W mass, will round up the present day picture of electroweak particle physics.
