Titre : Computational Multiscale Modeling of Fluids and Solids : Theory and Applications Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Martin Oliver Steinhauser, Auteur Mention d'édition : 3rd ed. Editeur : Cham [Switzerland] : Springer International Publishing Année de publication : 2022 Collection : Graduate Texts in Physics, ISSN 1868-4521 Importance : 432 p. Format : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-030-98953-8 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Livres Tags : Theoretical, Mathematical and Computational Physics Characterization and Analytical Technique Computational Mathematics and Numerical Analysis Mathematical and Computational Engineering Applications Geology Mathematical physics Engineering mathematics Index. décimale : 530 physique Résumé : The expanded 3rd edition of this established textbook offers an updated overview and review of the computational physics techniques used in materials modelling over different length and time scales. It describes in detail the theory and application of some of the most important methods used to simulate materials across the various levels of spatial and temporal resolution. Quantum mechanical methods such as the Hartree-Fock approximation for solving the SchrÉodinger equation at the smallest spatial resolution are discussed as well as the Molecular Dynamics and Monte-Carlo methods on the micro- and meso-scale up to macroscopic methods used predominantly in the Engineering world such as Finite Elements (FE) or Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). Extensively updated throughout, this new edition includes additional sections on polymer theory, statistical physics and continuum theory, the latter being the basis of FE methods and SPH. Each chapter now first provides an overview of the key topics covered, with a new "key points" section at the end. The book is aimed at beginning or advanced graduate students who want to enter the field of computational science on multi-scales. It provides an in-depth overview of the basic physical, mathematical and numerical principles for modelling solids and fluids on the micro-, meso-, and macro-scale. With a set of exercises, selected solutions and several case studies, it is a suitable book for students in physics, engineering, and materials science, and a practical reference resource for those already using materials modelling and computational methods in their research Computational Multiscale Modeling of Fluids and Solids : Theory and Applications [texte imprimé] / Martin Oliver Steinhauser, Auteur . - 3rd ed. . - Cham (Switzerland) : Springer International Publishing, 2022 . - 432 p. ; 24 cm. - (Graduate Texts in Physics, ISSN 1868-4521) .

Titre : Physics of Molecular and Cellular Processes Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Krastan B Blagoev, Directeur de publication, rédacteur en chef ; Herbert Levine, Directeur de publication, rédacteur en chef Editeur : Cham [Switzerland] : Springer International Publishing Année de publication : 2022 Collection : Graduate Texts in Physics, ISSN 1868-4521 Importance : 253 p. Format : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-030-98605-6 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Livres Tags : Biophysics Physiology Biotechnology Biomedical Engineering and Bioengineering Biomedical engineering Index. décimale : 571.4 Biophysique Résumé : This is a graduate-level introduction to quantitative concepts and methods in the science of living systems. It relies on a systems approach for understanding the physical principles operating in biology. Physical phenomena are treated at the appropriate spatio-temporal scale and phenomenological equations are used in order to reflect the system of interest. Biological details enter to the degree necessary for understanding specific processes, but in many cases the approach is not reductionist. This is in line with the approach taken by physics to many other complex systems. The book bridges the gap between graduate students' general physics courses and research papers published in professional journals. It gives students the foundations needed for independent research in biological physics and for working in collaborations aimed at quantitative biology and biomedical research. Also included are modern mathematical and theoretical physics methods, giving the student a broad knowledge of tools that can shed light on the sophisticated mechanisms brought forth by evolution in biological systems. The content covers many aspects that have been the focus of active research over the past twenty years, reflecting the authors' experience as leading researchers and teachers in this field Physics of Molecular and Cellular Processes [texte imprimé] / Krastan B Blagoev, Directeur de publication, rédacteur en chef ; Herbert Levine, Directeur de publication, rédacteur en chef . - Cham (Switzerland) : Springer International Publishing, 2022 . - 253 p. ; 24 cm. - (Graduate Texts in Physics, ISSN 1868-4521) .
